Web design for small businesses, UK28 checks on every buildfixed price

Most small business sites lose work quietly.

Slow on a phone. Invisible to Google. Impossible to use with a keyboard. None of it shows up until the enquiry stops arriving.

Every one of those is measurable.

28 checks on every build — speed, accessibility, indexation, privacy. Baselined before we start, re-run after we finish, published either way.

Fixed price. Fixed date. Your name on everything.

The domain, the code and every account registered to you from day one. Nothing renews, because there is nothing to cancel.

Instant pass/fail. No email wall, nothing stored.

What good looks like

The standard every Point28 build is measured against. Where a number is this site's own it says so and can be reproduced from the method given; where it is a target or a typical client outcome, it says that instead. See this site's dated measurements.

What it costs

Full pricing

Published, because a price you cannot see cannot be compared. Every figure is a real starting point against a written scope, not an opening bid.

  • Your name on everything. The domain, the code, the hosting and every account are registered to you from day one. If we ever fall out, you keep the lot.
  • Nothing renews. These are one-off prices. No rolling contract, no notice period, no cancellation process — because there is nothing to cancel.
  • The price on the page is the price. A fixed scope and a named delivery date in writing before any work starts, and no upsell calls after it does.

What we do

  1. Design and build

Built from scratch — no page builder, no plugin sprawl, no monthly platform fee. The code, the domain and every account registered in your name from day one.

  2. Found on Google, quoted by AI

Technical SEO so you rank, plus pages written so ChatGPT and Google's AI answers can quote you when a customer asks — the trade calls that generative engine optimisation; your next customer will call it “ChatGPT sent me”.

  3. Compliance, handled

UK GDPR without the bamboozlement: the cookie question, the privacy notice and the ICO registration sorted for you, not handed back as homework. Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA — the standard the Equality Act expects of a service provider — built in from the first line of markup.

  4. Automated where it pays

The repetitive, rule-shaped work removed — scoped by the hours it actually returns, and only where the arithmetic favours building it.

28 checks. Every build, the same standard.

Performance, accessibility, structured data, privacy, resilience, and responsive behaviour checked at six real device sizes — including both iPhone heights, because a layout that holds with the URL bar showing can break when it collapses. The checklist is published in full, and your site is tested against it in front of you.

How a build runs

  1. Baseline

We measure what you have now — speed, accessibility, indexation, privacy — and write it down with the date. Everything afterwards is compared against it.

  2. Scope in writing

A fixed page count, a fixed price and a named delivery date before any work starts. No hourly estimate that moves.

  3. Build

Content structure first, then design, then motion. The page is correct and operable without JavaScript before anything is animated.

  4. Prove it

The same measurements, re-run and published. If a number did not move, you see that too.

What we haven't finished

Every claim on this page is measured, so it is only fair to publish the list that is not done yet. This is from our own accessibility statement — the same standard we hold client work to.

  • No independent third-party audit has been carried out.

Everything above is self-tested with a keyboard, a screen reader and automated tooling. Automated checks reliably catch only around a third of real barriers, so self-assessment is a floor and not a substitute for an external audit.

  • The scrolling sequence on the home page has not been tested with every assistive technology.

It is decoration: it carries no information, is hidden from assistive technology, and is replaced by a single static image under reduced motion or if it fails to load. But the range of AT combinations tested so far is limited.

  • Cognitive accessibility has not been formally assessed.

Language is kept plain and jargon is defined on first use, but no structured readability or cognitive-load testing has been done.

Why this matters

A small business does not lose work because its website is ugly. It loses work because the site is slow, unreadable on a phone, invisible to search, and impossible to use with a keyboard. Those are measurable faults. We measure them, then we remove them.

Tell us what you are building

A short brief is enough to get a fixed scope and a real price back. No call required to get a number, no sales pressure when you do — and the person who reads your brief is the person who builds the site.
